Our Beginnings

Thomas & Priscilla Malone ARE Malone Studio! Tom created the business in 1976 in their hometown of Port Washington, NY. Priscilla began working with him as artistic designer the following year and the two married in 1978! They continued to operate the stained glass studio while raising three daughters in their Long Island home. Then, in 1990, after a brief trip to Rhode Island, they moved to Newport where they transformed a vacant, deteriorating 9,000 sq ft 'Summer Cottage' into a globally recognized, award-winning bed and breakfast! Simultaneously, they continued to operate the stained glass studio, raise three children, and maintained all operations managing the inn for 13 years! In 2003, Tom & Priscilla 'retired' from innkeeping and moved to their current location in Portsmouth, RI.

Together they continue to design, fabricate, install, restore & conserve stained glass windows. In addition, Tom, also a licensed contractor, does renovations and remodeling to homes and businesses (large or small), and Priscilla has her own thriving fine art studio.

Tom has a BS from Fordham University, NY and a Master of Science in Interior Design from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY. For more information on his extensive history working in the world of stained glass, please refer to the Stained Glass section!

Priscilla has a BFA from Marywood University, Scranton, PA and her MFA in Painting and Woodworking from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY. She designs new stained glass windows for churches, synagogues, schools, public buildings, restaurants, private residences and yes, even for classic cars and wooden yachts! In addition to creating new windows, she restores damaged figure work within stained glass windows, e.i., faces, drapery and other images painted onto class, including inscriptions, dedication panels and plaques.

Her fine art painting studio specializes in sea and landscape paintings, still life and portraiture in watercolor & pastel. As a "Special Event Artist", Priscilla works closely with clients who are planning an 'event' such as a wedding, christening, reception, etc. and captures a special moment of their day in a watercolor painting. Painting the bride's bouquet over the wedding invitation is the most requested commissioned. Please click on "Malone's Studio of Fine Art & Design" for photos and information on her works.
